ARTICLE V: MEMBERS

Section 2. Application for Fellow

2.1. The subspecialty board examination    shall be conducted every 2 years in the month of May
2.2. The candidate for Fellow shall submit to the Secretary of the Society a duly accomplished application form, a letter of intent, and the following supporting papers by February 28 of the examination year.

2.2.1. Valid PRC license
2.2.2. Certificate of completion of a 3-year Pediatric Residency Training from an accredited training institution
2.2.3. Diplomate or Fellow) of the Philippine Pediatric Society (PPS)
2.2.4. Certificate of completion of 2-year Fellowship Training in Pediatric Endocrinology from an accredited training institution
2.2.5. Letter of recommendation from two (2) fellows of the PSPME

2.3. Applicants who passed the Pediatric Endocrinology board examination conducted by another pediatric Endocrine Society must submit proper documentation. Exemption from subspecialty board examinations of the candidate shall be recommended by the Membership and Accreditation Committee to the Board of Trustees for approval.
2.4. All applications shall be distributed by the secretary to the members of the Subspecialty Board for deliberation. Successful applicants shall be notified by the Subspecialty Board at least one (1) month before the date of examination.
2.5. A member of the Specialty Board may request to postpone decision for certification, recertification, reclassification, and reinstatement of any applicant after the next SB meeting.
2.6. Successful examinees shall be notified by the Subspecialty Board after deliberation.
2.7. A Certificate of Fellow status shall be issued only after the applicant takes oath under an officially designated inducting officer at a designated time and place. The effectivity of the Fellow status commences at the date signified in the certificate.
2.8. Remedial Requirements for Unsuccessful Examinees

2.8.1. An applicant can take the PSPME Subspecialty Board Examination a maximum of 3 times without being required to take remedial measures
2.8.2. After the 3rd failed attempt, the applicant shall be required to complete a refresher course from his training institution before he can reapply to sit for another examination        
2.8.3. The refresher course must include didactic lectures, inpatient and outpatient consultations under direct supervision of a trainer and critical reviews of current endocrine literature. The course covers at least eight (8) hours a week for continuous 6-month period, or four (4) hours a week for a continuous 12-month period. A certificate of completion signed by the head of the training institution shall be submitted to the Subspecialty Board.
